Standard 14g. uncoated Flex-Weave is normally used, but for coastal areas, or areas with a high acid content in the air, we can supply aerials made with plastic coated Flex-Weave. Ribbon & ladder feeders are American made, heavy duty & ultra violet stable.

Palstar's longwire is made up of Multi-System components and Flex-Weave antenna wire, to produce a strong, light weight and tidy antenna for the short wave listener that can be easily strung between house and post or tree etc., also ideal for camping or caravan holidays. The signal is transformed at the end fed isolator and grounded via the screen of the coax and the receivers earth system (all receivers should be well earthed). This grounding can greatly reduce the noise level on the signal, caused by static and man made interference etc., thus improving the performance, and enjoyment, of short wave listening.

This system can also help in avoiding damage to the sensitive front ends of modern receivers and scanners, caused by the build up of static electricity in larger antenna systems.

Although the longwire will perform perfectly well without an antenna tuning unit (ATU), it is recommended for serious short wave listening that an ATU be used, as an ATU will perform a band pass filtering role, reducing out of band interference from powerful broadcast stations, as well as matching the impedance of the system.
